What’s the difference between desktop and server licenses?
A Server Deployment License is required on Windows Server machines. A Server Deployment License is also required in architectures where the interop component of your application awaits and fulfills requests from a headless client process or processes which serve multiple users. For example, an ASP.NET application that bridges to a Java backend would need a server deployment license. Additional examples would be a Citrix application, or an application server deployment strategy where the hardware is servicing multiple end-users.
A Desktop Deployment License is used in architectures where the interop component of your application resides on single-user desktop computer. For example, a WinForms client application that bridges to a Java backend would need a desktop deployment license.
